Lot #7774 – IWC IW3513 Portofino Center Seconds Date Watch

Gents stainless steel IWC wristwatch, ref #IW3513.  White International Watch Co Schaffhausen dial with silver applied  indexes.  Round Calatrava style shaped case.  Stainless steel IWC fish stamped crown.  Swiss made, mechanical automatic wind movement.  Comes on a new Tokki Project leather strap with a stainless steel Tokki Project tang buckle.  Approximate diameter is 34mm.

The hands have discoloration which can be expected due to age.  There are small specks on the crystal.  Case back has minor tool marks around some of the edges.  The watch has superficial scratches due to normal wear and age.  Overall condition is good.  Running at the time of inspection, however not checked for accuracy nor water resistance/proofness.  An overhaul is always recommended for used watches.

International Watch Company (IWC) was founded in 1868 by Florentine Ariosto Jones.  Jones returned to the United States and the company was taken over by The Rauschenbachs family from Schaffhausen.  IWC made several important models early on such a pocket watch with a digital “Pallweber” display, the W.W.W. for the British Army, and the Swiss quartz movement Beta 21.  Some iconic IWC models include the IWC Pilot, IWC Portugieser, IWC Da Vinci, IWC Ingenieur, IWC Portofino, and the IWC Aquatimer.
