Lot #7737 – Omega 2577-6 Bumper Cal 351 Watch Vintage

Vintage gents stainless steel Omega Seamaster wristwatch, ref #2577-6.  Silver Omega patina dial with applied gold tone arrow head hour markers.  Stainless steel bezel.  Stainless steel Omega crown.  Swiss made, self winding automatic bumper movement, cal 351.  Comes on a new Tokki Project leather strap with a stainless steel Tokki Project tang buckle.  Approximate diameter is 34mm.

The dial has patina and spotting throughout as can be expected with age.  The hands and markers have areas of spotting and discoloration.  The plastic crystal has superficial scratches throughout.  Dial may have been previously refreshed.  The watch has superficial scratches due to normal wear and age.  The overall condition is good.  Running at the time of inspection, however not checked for accuracy nor water resistance/proofness.  An overhaul is always recommended for used watches.

Bumper movements were the earliest self winding movements used in wrist watches in the 1920’s.

In 1848, Louis Brandt founded La Generale Watch Co. in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.  In 1903, he changed the name to Louis Brandt et Frere – Omega Watch & Co which was changed once more to the current Omega SA in 1982.  Throughout it’s rich history, Omega was chosen as the official watch for Britain’s Royal Flying Corps in 1917, the US Army in 1918, and most famously for NASA in 1969.  Some of Omega’s most well known models are – Omega Speedmaster Professional, Omega Speedmaster, Omega Seamaster, Omega Constellation, Omega De Ville, Omega Dynamic, Omega Flightmaster, and Omega Railmaster.  Not as widely known, Omega even created a Tourbillon in 1947.
