Vintage men’s stainless steel Omega Speedmaster Professional Mark II chronograph wristwatch, ref #145.014.  Black Omega “Racing” dial with patina indexes, sunken sub-dials, subsidiary dials for the seconds, and 12-hour and 30-minute registers.  White baton hands showing patina on the luminous.  Round button chronograph.  Tachymetre is beneath the mineral glass crystal.  Swiss made, mechanical manual wind, Omega caliber 861.  Movement stamped with 8 digit serial number, 32XXXXXX.  Case back stamped with the Omega Hippocampus Speedmaster logo in the center.  The inside of the case back is signed Omega Watch Co, Fab Suisse, Swiss Made, DDE BR 2750/67, Acier, Inoxydable, 145.014.  Comes on a stainless steel Omega bracelet #1159 with matching #154 end pieces.  The Omega buckle stamped 1159 with a circle 30 indicating a first generation bracelet for the Omega Speedmaster Professional MKII.  Approximate diameter is 41mm.

The dial and hands have patina, spotting, and areas of discoloration throughout as can be expected due to age.  The Omega Hippocampus Speedmaster is faint on the case back.  The bracelet has stretch.  The watch has superficial scratches due to normal wear and age.  Overall condition is fair.  Running at the time of inspection, however not checked for accuracy nor water resistance/proofness.  An overhaul is always recommended for used watches.

In 1848, Louis Brandt founded La Generale Watch Co. in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.  In 1903, he changed the name to Louis Brandt et Frere – Omega Watch & Co which was changed once more to the current Omega SA in 1982.  Throughout it’s rich history, Omega was chosen as the official watch for Britain’s Royal Flying Corps in 1917, the US Army in 1918, and most famously for NASA in 1969.  Some of Omega’s most well known models are – Omega Speedmaster Professional, Omega Speedmaster, Omega Seamaster, Omega Constellation, Omega De Ville, Omega Dynamic, Omega Flightmaster, and Omega Railmaster.  Not as widely known, Omega even created a Tourbillon in 1947.
