Lot #3228 – Piaget Upstream Watch 27250

Estimate: $4,000.00 – $5,000.00

Rare limited edition men’s stainless steel Piaget Upstream wristwatch with power reserve, ref #27250.  Circa 2000’s.  Limited edition of only 100 pieces.  Salmon colored Piaget dial with applied bar hour markers, seconds sub dial, and power reserve indicator.  Tonneau shaped case.  Swiss made, self winding automatic Piaget Calibre 551P movement.   Comes on an integrated stainless steel Piaget bracelet.  Accompanied by a fitted Piaget watch box.  Approximate diameter is 33mm.

Has superficial scratches due to normal wear and age.  Overall condition is excellent.  Running at the time of inspection, however not checked for accuracy.  An overhaul is always recommended for used watches.

The Piaget Upstream with a copper dial is rare and unusual.  Only 100 pieces were made with the salmon colored dial.  The bracelet is fully integrated with the case.  The bezel must be pushed opened from the bottom of the case in order to fit the watch onto the wrist making this an unusual piece.

Georges-Edouard Piaget set up his workshop in 1874.  Shortly afterwards, Swiss watch brands sought out Piaget’s quality watch components and high precision movements to use on their own models.  Throughout it’s history, Piaget became known for it’s innovations and high jewelry pieces.  In 1957, Piaget created an ultra thin 2mm thick 9P caliber movement.  In 1963, Piaget incorporated  ornamental stones in their dials.  In 1979, Piaget created it’s iconic Piaget Polo.  Models in their current collection includes the Piaget Altiplano, Piaget Limelight Gala, Piaget Possession, and Piaget Black Tie.
